Kay Bojesen

Most famous for his cheeky monkeys and wooden guards, the late Kay Bojesen is one of Denmark's most loved designers. His wooden toys have delighted adults and children alike for almost 100 years.

Kay Bojesen started to make wooden toys in earnest in the 1930s. He followed his guiding principle that design should be round, soft and feel good. When he began to make his wooden toys, he was not seeking to make sophisticated replicas of animals, but simple, solid toys where the lines 'need to smile' and inspire children to play.
